As one of only three enterprises of Bosnia and Herzegovina, RIZ Krajina has been awarded by an international jury on the World Fair on Innovations, Research and New Technologies "Brussels Innova/Eureka" – in different categories.
• Gold medal with merit for the trademark of RIZ Krajina
• Medal of merit for innovation for the manager and owner Rifat Tahrić: second grade officer for his contribution to the development of innovation in the field of the management of eco-tourism and the breeding and the production of autochthonous fish
• European Medal for innovation: third grade commander for the contribution of RIZ Krajina to the development of innovation of eco-tourism and the breeding and production of autochthonous fish
Rifat Tahrić is the director of the Bihac-based company RIZ „Krajina" which, amongst others, runs a successful fish-breeding plant the potential of which reaches approx. 550 tons per year. For him, the award in Brussels has a multiple meaning, first and foremost the trademark protection and intellectual property, which can result in an easier selling activity of his fish on the EU market. Moreover, it could mean a big step for the development of programmes in the framework of the new National Park Una which could also create new jobs.

The company „RIZ Krajina d.o.o.“ from Bihac, a city in the north-west of Bosnia and Herzegovina, deals with the ecological fish-farming since 2000, and is the leading producer of trout in South East Europe. In the beginning of this decade already, the company had the idea that the region’s rich natural resources should be used as a tourist attraction. Hence, in the end of 2007, it started the construction of an "ecotouristic settlement". Besides a hotel, there will be a villa as well as a couple of tourist houses. All objects will be constructed out of ecological material and be equipped with geothermal heating.
Thanks to the extensive experience in the area of gastronomy and its fish-farm near the hotel, “RIZ Krajina” offers outstanding conditions for culinary offers. Traditional Bosnian cuisine with natural ingredients is highly accentuated.
